2021 - ongoing
White light is shattered and scattered by the fast-rotating sculptures, breaking down into its own color system. First it separates into reds, greens, and blues, and at different speeds it transforms into cyan, magenta, yellows, and almost liquid blacks.
The Fanfanfans change color with every shift and acceleration in speed, constantly altering their character.
Each speed produces a distinct color scheme. The Fanfanfans explore symphonies of color, mechanical vibrations, and the transformation of light and color into physical form. They appear sweet and almost edible, like marbles or candy. At the same time, their high-speed mechanical sounds create a haunting and visceral experience.
They play with the wagon wheel phenomenon, similar to car wheels that appear motionless while moving fast, rushing through a storm of sound. They also evoke a contemporary symbol of digital frustration: the spinning color wheel from a crashing MacBook.
Fanfanfan is a site-specific series of hyper-sculptures consisting of one or multiple units rotating at high speed. The rotating shapes are aerostructures made from Formula 1 carbon, engineered with the precise weight required to accelerate rapidly.
